Crush your Mondays! Crush them I said!

Toast to Crappy Mondays!

Who likes Mondays? Probably not a lot of us. What's to like about it? Another week at the daily grind. A great way to toast to a new crappy week is $1 corkage at Crush Wine Bar. You can bring your own bottle of wine for $1 on Mondays. I'm not sure how long this will last but it's a smart idea. Tonight, 12 of us got together over 8 bottles of wine with lots of food thus generating Crush some business on a Monday night.

There's something about having a party on a night like Monday. It makes the week less daunting, annoying and frustrating. The menu is good and currently, Crush has the Summerlicious menu on. For $35 you can eat quite the meal. So, you save on alcohol if you bring your own bottle. The service is always fantastic with the wait staff ready to share in tickles and giggles with you. I always have a great time at Crush. I've become friends with one of the waiters, Akbar. He's just great. Cute English accent. Crush also has a pretty hefty wine list with various flights of wine to try. Next Monday, if you find yourself wondering what to do, why not try Crush Wine Bar!

  1. I agree that it's a great strategy, and I often wonder why there aren't more smart restaurant operators who embrace and market the BYOW program. I like to reward those who offer this with my business! For example, Crush on Mondays is dead like any other place. By offering this, we brought 12 people, and all of us ate, spending money at a place that would otherwise be empty.

We all need to support places that offer corkage, especially those that have a corkage promotion on a specific night! Another example is The River Restaurant on Roncesvalles. They offer the first bottle as free corkage on Tuesdays.

  4. The only downside to resto's is that they typically lose money on food and make money on drinks. Therefore, they probably didn't make much money off of us. Despite that, at least we're keeping some wait staff employed. One of which has a cute accent. ;)

  5. No, they didn't make a huge amount of money on us but we wouldn't have gone if they didn't have the corkage.
Some money is better than no money! :) So yes I agree with you completely...whoever you are although I know you were there yesterday! He's single by the way (if you're a girl). LOL

  6. Trust me, at $18 for a hamburger (no matter how good it is), they're not losing money on food sales! Besides, they could up the price a little (say $5 per bottle), still call it a promo, and I think most people would still think it's a deal and be willing to pay it....I know I would.

Bottom line is it's a great tool to put bums in the seats and generate cash flow on slow nights, and I find it very surprising how few restaurant operators use this tool to drive weekday sales.

Support them when they do so they get the message that this is something that the consumers want!
